Season 3 starts up with some more information on Klaus and the original family as Klaus`s reasons for wanting Stefan are revealed. As Stefan goes deeper and deeper on the dark side, Elena and Damon Struggle for the guilt of their growing relationship as they try to work together to get Stefan back from the edge. The ghosts from jeremy`s past have a powerful message that they are trying to deliver to him, not to mention the intense impact they are having on his relationship with Bonnie. And as Caroline and Tyler get closer, a war erupts between their two families.
